Panel SA: Entity launches seal to certify product accessible to the blind

by

The ONCB (National Organization of the Blind in Brazil) created a seal for packaging and equipment accessible to the visually impaired.

Called Soina, the certification, which will be launched in June, was developed by people who are blind and have low vision. They will be responsible for testing and pointing out weaknesses and improvements in the accessibility of products, according to Alberto Pereira, president of the entity.

“We want to make society aware of the importance of being accessible, so that a blind person or person with low vision can pay their bill alone, without having to pass their password to someone. she gives the commands”, says Pereira.

He says that ONCB has already been contacted by a food company that wants to implement the seal on its packaging and by a manufacturer of home appliances, such as coffee machines.

The first product with certification will be a credit and debit payment machine from the company Perto SA, which has been tested by the ONCB.

The model has a physical keyboard, touch screen and voice synthesizer that, when activated, speaks the information that appears on the screen during purchase.
