“Settle your debts, otherwise we will hang you on … pegs”. This is more or less what the messages that will start sending from today until Monday will say ΑΑΔΕ and ΕΦΚΑto all – individuals and companies – those who have debts greater than 150,000 euros.

Those who receive such a message will have until June 21 to pay off or settle their debts, otherwise they will see their name written wide on the list of defaulters that will be published on June 30.

This list was last updated in 2019 as then the pandemic put everything on ice. After 3 years, it is certain that the number of names will … grow.

The data processed by the Budget Office of the Parliament show that only in the last year in the category of those who owe from 100,000 euros to 1,000,000 euros to the tax office, 1795 AFM were added. Another 336 VAT was added to those who owe more than 1,000,000 euros.

These two categories have accounted for 90% of the total debts to AADE. 8,579 more owed at the end of 2021 from 10,000 euros to 100,000 euros compared to 2021.

Regarding the debts to EFKA, those who owe more than 1,000,000 euros increased by 95, those who owe from 100,000 euros to 1,000,000 euros by 2,748 VAT and by 122,379 those who have debts from 10,000 euros to 100,000 euros.

Those who will escape the … deportation are those who have settled their debts and keep the regulation, have debts that have been declared ineligible, those who have passed away or are minors, legal entities of public (narrow or wider) and those who have debts that are suspended from collection by a court decision, temporary order, act of an administrative body or by law.

Updating the list of big debtors is just the beginning. Both AADE and EFKA will then proceed to audits of large debt cases and will be followed by the prioritization of debts that are considered the most receivable with the simultaneous imposition of enforcement measures, ie foreclosures and auctions.
