Panel SA: Supermarkets ask for a brake on food prices at an event with Paulo Guedes

by

The president of the Abras supermarket association, João Galassi, defended this Thursday (9), during the sector event that had Minister Paulo Guedes’ online presence, that the new retail price table for the industry should only be for 2023.

The brake on the transfer of prices from manufacturers would be the emergency solution to circumvent food inflation until the end of the year, according to the entity.

“Considering that federal taxes are not levied on the basic food basket, how can we offer the basic food basket items at a lower cost? We cannot wait for a solution. After our first thematic session, which will be precisely to reduce costs through tax, I ask the authorities and leaders to look into solving the urgency of the moment. Society needs the national supply chain. I want to launch a challenge: a new table only in 2023”, said Galassi at the National Supply Chain Forum.

Also this Wednesday, the IBGE pointed to a deceleration of 0.47% in the IPCA (Extended National Consumer Price Index) in May. With the entry of new data, inflation reached 11.73% in the 12-month period up to May.
