US Chamber of Commerce distributes ‘made in China’ gifts

The gift bag distributed by the US Chamber of Commerce to promote American industry has gifts bearing the “made in China” seal.

Delegates and other mission members at the Summit of the Americas, which takes place in Los Angeles this week, receive gifts and samples from various groups that seek to advance their agenda.

In a side event dubbed the “CEO Summit”, the business and political elite took the stage to discuss how companies can help drive development in impoverished areas of Central and South America.

Attendees — including Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai, US President Joe Biden and Meta number three Nick Clegg — were presented with a blue gift bag provided by the hosts.

In it there is a metallic bottle and sunglasses, both produced in the Asian country.

The US Chamber of Commerce, which describes itself as a “non-profit organization representing the unified interests of US businesses”, did not react to AFP’s request for comment.
