Fuel Pass: What subsidy will be given to petrol and diesel – Who will be the beneficiaries

by

The new Fuel Pass will be strengthened, as according to Mr. Staikouras more money will be given, while the income criteria will be expanded.

A matter of days is the government’s announcements about new fuel interventions in order to reduce the cost of gasoline that reaches 2.4 euros per liter in Athens and reaches up to 2.80 euros in the islands, but also of oil whose price has exceeded 2 euros.

After all, the current aid program ends on June 30 and, as the Minister of Finance has announced, Christos Staikouras through SKAI, the measure will be extended for another three months, starting on 1 July.

However, the new Fuel Pass will be strengthened, as according to Mr. Staikouras more money will be given, while the income criteria will be expanded, which means that the number of beneficiaries will increase.

According to the information so far, the content of the measures has been “locked” and the details remain, such as the amount of the grant and the selection criteria of the beneficiaries.

Thus, the new fuel aid measure provides for the following:

  • The system will continue for gasoline fuel pass with the amount of the grant being higher than before, about 60-65 euros.
  • Income criteria will be explored, most likely including those who have family income up to 45,000 euros (net after deduction of taxes), as happened with the power pass
  • For diesel the subsidy will continue to be given to the pump and will probably be higher than it is today, ie from 0.12 euros it will reach 0.15 euros per liter.
  • It will last for three months and will be valid from July 1 and will end on September 30.
