Measures to save energy were summarized by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, during the emergency meeting of the Crisis Management Group to assess the adequacy of the country’s natural gas supply.
“Greece faces one of the lowest risks in all of Europe in terms of supply sufficiency, provided that Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is available,” Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas said after the conclusion of an emergency meeting of the Crisis Management Group held today.
At the meeting, scenarios of reduction or interruption of natural gas supply from Russia and their effects on the country’s energy supply were examined. As Mr. Skrekas pointed out, “we are systematically preparing to ensure the country’s energy sufficiency, considering even the most unfavorable scenarios”.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, from the data presented at the meeting, it appears that Greece has the ability to cope satisfactorily with the scenarios of a reduction in the supply from Russia.
