Deputy Nereu Crispim (PSD-RS), president of the Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Autonomous Truck Driver, filed a lawsuit with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to try to suspend the processing of the PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) which increases by R$ 200 the value of Auxílio Brasil, increases Auxílio Gás and creates aid for truck drivers and taxi drivers.
For the congressman, the proposal – which was approved this Thursday (7th) in a special committee of the Chamber – could not even be processed, discussed or voted on because it violates stony clauses of the Constitution.
“The objective is to stop the processing of PEC nº 1, of 2022 in the Chamber of Deputies (popularly called “PEC Kamikaze” by jurists and the press), which tries to change stony clauses of the Constitution in an attempt to the separation of Powers, the Democratic State of Right, to the treasury, to the public budget, among other fundamental rules of precept”, he said, in a press release.
The deputy said that the proposal aims to “meet the electoral greed of Jair Bolsonaro”.
Sought, the Attorney General’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The government seeks to accelerate the approval of the PEC that extends the benefit this week, less than three months before the general elections. President Jair Bolsonaro, who will seek reelection, is in second place in polls.
