Receipt clipping is an obligation of professionals and therefore clients should request it. If they are not given a receipt, they have the right not to pay
“This message aims to inform you about your consumer rights in our country. According to Greek law, all hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, car rentals and, in general, almost all suppliers of goods and services (with a few exceptions, such as taxi drivers and kiosks) are obliged to accept debit, credit or prepaid cards”, notes the AADE (Independent Public Revenue Authority) in its relevant information.
Receipt clipping is also an obligation of professionals, so clients should request it. If they are not given a receipt, they have the right not to pay.

“Restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, mini markets and generally almost all suppliers of goods are required to have electronic cash registers and are not allowed to issue handwritten or printed receipts on normal paper“, it is clarified.
The receipts, on the other hand, should have the name, address and 9-digit number of the professional’s tax identification number written on them.
“Therefore, in any case, before you pay, you have the right to ask for a receipt and you are not obliged to pay if you do not receive a receipt. It is so simple to say in Greek: “Apódixi please”»!
