At the end of this week, at the latest during the weekend, the platform for Fuel Pass 2 is expected to open as estimated by the Minister of Finance Christos Staikourasspeaking to SKAI and on the show “Online”.

The cost of the intervention amounts to 200 million, the minister emphasized, adding that it covers more vehicles (3.1 million vehicles out of 3.5 in total) and as he said he estimates that a greater percentage of beneficiaries will use the subsidy, compared to the first Fuel Pass.

At the same time, he left open the possibility that the 3% discount for the one-time payment of income tax will apply until August 31st, after the extension of the submission of the declarations from July 29th.

About dealing with it energy crisis, emphasized that the basic scenario concerns aid of 8.5 billion euros by the end of the year for electricity, natural gas and fuel. A part of this amount he explained will come from the national budget, another from the energy transition fund and a third from the taxation of super profits.

He added that extreme scenarios have also been made for natural gas in the event that the tap is completely turned off by Russia.

At the same time, focus on revenues of the state budget: “Receipts are encouraging, the ship of the Greek economy is going to a safe harbor: High growth, record investments again this year, the only country in Europe with a double-digit investment rate, a decrease in unemployment, and a double increase in the minimum wage”

He also underlined that the big problem is rising inflation: “It makes sense this year with this global crisis, it will fade gradually but the problem is in the citizen’s pocket.”

He also emphasized that citizens show consistency in their tax obligations and indicated: “They have paid 50% of the ENFIA, with a reduction in deposits in the month of May

Of the 1.9 that are in installments for the income tax, we have collected one third.

“This government has reduced tax rates, resulting in citizens meeting their debts faster despite high inflation,” said the minister.

And he continued: “We are not the country that gives benefits, we are the country of tax cuts and social security contributions.”
