Panel SA: Trucker Leaders Say Aid Makes Little Difference and Won’t Attend September 7 Acts

by

With the date set for the receipt of the first installments of Auxílio Caminhoneiro on August 9, leaders of the category say that aid should not make much difference and that they do not intend to join acts in support of President Bolsonaro on September 7.

“There is a wing of 30% that is still on this issue of defending the government. I think this harms our category a lot”, says Wallace Landim, aka Cry, one of the main leaders of the great strike in 2018.

José Roberto Stringasci, president of the ANTB truck drivers association, says that some drivers can join the demonstrations alone, but he also does not see support through the entities. According to him, the aid can be used to pay tire payments or pay for food, but it should not solve the problem.

In 2021, the Bolsonarista demonstrations on the holiday of September 7 divided the category. The leaders of the entities, however, called the acts undemocratic and unrelated to the trucking agenda.
