The Audi RS Q3 was the fastest among the premium gasoline-powered SUVs, according to tests carried out by Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia. The luxury SUV, which has a 2.5 turbo engine (400 hp), reached 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.
The model of German origin was also the best in the retake test: it took just 3.2 seconds to go from 80 km/h to 120 km/h.
The Germans also dominated consumption measurements. The first places in the city and on the road went to the Mercedes GLA 200 AMG Line, which is equipped with a 1.3 turbo engine (163 hp).
The podium was occupied by cars costing at least R$329,900. This is the value requested by the assessed GLA.
The most expensive model among the first placed was another Mercedes, the GLS 3.0 turbo. According to the automaker’s table, the suggested price for the seven-seat SUV starts at R$876,900.
The fastest SUV in the 2022 edition of the Folha-Mauá Ranking costs BRL 665,000, according to the Fipe table (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas).
HOW TESTS ARE DONE
To measure the performance of cars, the IMT (Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia) uses the V-Box, equipment that uses a GPS signal.
The acceleration and resumption tests are carried out on the ZF company track, in Limeira (São Paulo countryside).
The stage that checks consumption in the city is 27 km long. To simulate a road trip at 90 km/h, engineers drive for 31 km. Both routes are in São Caetano do Sul (ABC), where the institute’s headquarters are located.
If the car is flex, two measurements are made: one with ethanol, the other with gasoline.
The consumption of electric models is measured through the charger installed in the IMT. The test calculates the cost to run 100 km in urban and road modes.
