Panel SA: Paulinho da Força admits chance to change report on cash meal vouchers

by

After suffering pressure from restaurant owners, deputy Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade-SP) now admits the possibility of adapting his proposal so that the meal voucher can be paid in cash to the worker.

The deputy, who is the rapporteur of the provisional measure on the subject, says he has a pre-report, which should be discussed at the meeting this Tuesday (2) with the leaders of the parties and the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira.

Paulo Solmucci, president of Abrasel, complains about the lack of dialogue and information on the part of the deputy. According to Paulinho da Força, the granting of the cash benefit will be on the agenda of this Tuesday’s meeting.

For restaurant owners, if the benefit is paid in cash, people will spend the amount on other expenses, which can put small establishments, more dependent on voucher receipts, at risk.

The value limit defined for meal and food vouchers can also be changed, according to the deputy. According to one of the proposals, the aid can reach the equivalent of up to 50% of the payment of those who earn up to three minimum wages.

According to Paulinho da Força’s adviser, the provisional measure is expected to be put to a vote at the end of this Tuesday afternoon (2).
