Panel SA: Representatives of the business community are divided on adherence to the pro-democracy manifesto

by

With the launch date of the movement in defense of democracy approaching, scheduled for August 11, associations representing the private sector are hitting the hammer on the decision to join or not.

After the CNI (National Confederation of Industry), Abifer (railway industry) and Anfavea (automotive), which have already decided not to sign the documents requesting respect for the electoral system, smaller entities such as Abimfi (photographic and image material industry) and Abcic (industrialized concrete construction) say they will not sign.

Last year, Abimfi and Abcic endorsed a manifesto organized by Fiesp called “The Square is for the Three Powers”, which raised concerns about the institutional tension at the time.

To the SA Panel, the president of Abrafarma, Sergio Mena Barreto, also said that he will not be able to adhere to the new manifestos, because the decision would have to go through the assembly, and the meeting will only take place next month, after the letter is released.

Among the entities that supported the pro-democracy letters are Febraban, Fiesp, FecomercioSP, ProGenéricos (manufacturers of generic drugs) and Abimo (medical devices).
