How to save on streaming? Discover platforms with promotions and freebies

How much does it cost to watch your favorite movies and series? If the Covid-19 pandemic forced everyone to pay more attention to streaming services, which have multiplied in recent years, launched new platforms and fiercely compete for customer subscriptions, many of them have become more expensive recently.

If the idea is to have access to the four main streams and be able to watch exclusive productions from Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+, for example, today you must pay at least R$88.60 per month if you choose the most basic package. of each platform —or spend 7% of the minimum wage, of R$1,212, on these services.

Netflix, by the way, readjusted its most basic package last month. The simplest plan jumped from R$21.90 to R$25.90, an increase of 18%. Amazon Prime Video, on the other hand, increased the value of its monthly plan by 50%, from R$9.90 to R$14.90. HBO Max, in turn, landed in Brazil last year charging R$13.95 per month for a promotional package – today that same plan costs twice as much, R$27.90.

With inflation on the rise and a loss of purchasing power, it is increasingly difficult to accumulate these subscriptions. The way is to try to save using platforms that are free and taking advantage of promotions.

Below is a list of ten streaming services that offer discounts or free trial periods. The main options are covered — except for Netflix, which does not offer any discounts at the moment or allows a free trial of its service.

Apple TV+

Apple’s platform arrived in Brazil in 2019 and it took a while to make noise. It was with series like “Ted Lasso,” which garnered 20 Emmy nominations this year, and “Ruptura,” which was nominated for 14 awards, that Apple TV+ really took off. The monthly subscription costs R$9.90 and new customers are entitled to seven days of free use.

There is even a plan that adds Starzplay to the game for BRL 55.90 – the savings in this case is BRL 19.80.

Another way to save is with combos that join platforms for a price lower than the sum of individual subscriptions. An example is the plan that combines Globoplay and Disney+ and costs R$ 43.90 per month – signing each separately would cost R$ 52.80.
