Panel SA: Ericsson does not predict 5G chokes in São Paulo

by

Ericsson, which is an infrastructure provider for the three operators, Vivo Claro and Tim, in São Paulo, says that there is no forecast of choking at the start of 5G in São Paulo this Thursday (4).

“There is always one or another technical issue, that fine tuning after the service is implemented, but in São Paulo a lot of tests have already been done”, says Rodrigo Dienstmann, president of the company for the Southern Cone of Latin America.

He notes that there can be frustration among customers who are not in the coverage area.

“If you are in a more remote neighborhood, you have the impression that you could use 5G and you won’t be able to, or a customer who is in a region where coverage is not so strong and will do a speed test. have a lot of people posting on social networks incredible speeds on their phones”, says the executive.

Dienstmann says he will run his own test one minute after midnight and post it on social media.

The coverage is concentrated in the expanded center, between the Tietê and Pinheiros marginals and covers part of the west zone and the beginning of the south zone. According to Anatel, the area with the highest concentration of antennas is also where there is a greater concentration of business buildings and higher-income residences.

In Brasília, where the network has been available since the beginning of July, the service remains unstable and the promised speeds fluctuate and often match those of 4G due to the lack of coverage in the capital.
