Fifteen employees and former employees of Apple accused the company of negligence in handling reports of inappropriate sexual behavior, said this Thursday (4) the newspaper “Financial Times”.
The women denounced retaliation and disappointing or counterproductive responses to demands from the Silicon Valley company.
Apple told the newspaper that it was working to investigate complaints about misconduct and added that it would make changes to its training processes.
Silicon Valley has been rocked by sexual harassment and discrimination scandals amid the height of the #MeToo movement, driving change in an industry dominated by men.
One of the women named in the text, Megan Mohr, was inspired by #MeToo to report in 2018 that an Apple colleague had taken off her shirt and bra to photograph her while she was sleeping briefly after going out for a drink.
According to the report, after speaking with human resources about the complaint, the company concluded that the employee’s behavior was potentially criminal, but did not violate any policy in the context of his work at Apple.
Mohr resigned in January after 14 years with the company, and is now asking the company, which employs 165,000 people globally, to review its policies.
