Nursing floor will readjust São Paulo’s payroll by 40%, says Sindhosp

by

The new nursing salary floor should cause a 40% increase in the nursing payroll in the State of São Paulo, according to calculations by Sindhosp (Sindicato dos Hospitals de São Paulo) that consider the impact on the public and private sector.

The new law, sanctioned by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and published on the 5th, creates a floor of R$ 4,750 for nurses. Nursing technicians must receive 70% of the new amount, and nursing assistants and midwives, 50%.

Deputies predict that the change will result in an extra expense with personnel in the order of R$ 16.31 billion per year, considering public and private health institutions.

The new measure was celebrated by professionals in the area, but the health representation entities are concerned with the cost of this salary increase. On Tuesday (9), the CNSaúde (National Health Confederation) presented in the STF (Federal Supreme Court) an ADI (Direct Action of Unconstitutionality), with a request for an injunction against the effects of the new law.

According to the entity, in about 800 municipalities in the country, the holy houses and philanthropic hospitals are the only options for assistance and these institutions may be forced to close at any time, as they cannot afford to pay the floor.

According to Sindhosp, the orientation for health establishments is that they wait a few more days to find out whether or not the injunction will be granted before taking any action.

This week, associations of hospitals and health plans met with the ANS (National Supplementary Health Agency) to inform the agency that the new law on the nursing floor will generate transfer of costs in the sector, with a possible increase in monthly fees for consumers. .
