After a frustrating Black Friday, mall retailers fear this year’s Christmas will be weak for the industry. According to Luís Augusto Ildefonso, institutional director of Alshop (Brazilian Association of Shopping Shop Owners), in recent years, all projections for sales on Black Friday were surpassed. This year was different.
“Sales were well below our expectations. It’s a bad thermometer for Christmas,” says Idelfonso.
The director of Alshop says that the sector expects a growth close to 49% compared to 2020, when almost all stores were closed. However, he regrets that it will not yet be possible to recover sales for 2019.
