“We have lived and paid for the “given everything” and obviously we are not of that school,” said the minister characteristically
In January, the process to determine the increase in the minimum wage will begin, such as he said to SKAI and the show “Newsroom”the Minister of Labor Kostis Hatzidakis.
He explained that he cannot disclose the amount of the increase, however, he noted that on the one hand the government will see the competitiveness of businesses and the economy and on the other hand the needs of workers.
As he said at the beginning of January there will be a consultation with the social partners, the Bank of Greece, KEPE and then he himself, taking into account the economic situation, will announce the amount of the increase. This whole procedure will take 3-4 months, added the minister.
Regarding the financial support to the citizens, he emphasized that the government is happy for whatever more it could give. “But it has to be managed properly. We lived the “given all” and paid for it and obviously we are not of that school”, he said characteristically.
And he continued: “There are some in the political scene who claim a monopoly on sensitivity for workers. We don’t claim it, but we don’t give it away either.”
He also reiterated that pensions will be unfrozen for everyone after a 12-year period, while he reminded that from January 1, 2023, the solidarity levy, which has a significant cost, as he said for the budget, is abolished.
As for the events in Evros harshly criticized SYRIZA for its stance: “I am surprised by SYRIZA’s stance on Evros. And for SYRIZA, it surprises me. Especially for this issue I didn’t expect them to go that far. They were misplaced and frivolous statements. At a time when Turkey is instrumentalizing immigration, we should all be against it,” said the minister.
Finally, regarding the pending pensions, they amount to a total of 30,000 (beyond the international ones) and will be dealt with immediately.
