Five entities in the hospital sector will present a survey they carried out with 2,500 health institutions on the impacts of the new nursing floor. The survey shows that more than half of them plan to cut the number of beds.
Almost 80% talk about reducing the nursing staff and 65%, about reducing the number of employees from other areas.
According to the entities’ accounts, more than 20 thousand beds and 83 thousand jobs will be closed among the institutions that responded to the survey.
The data contributes to presenting the government with the sector’s alert with the source of funding, which has been a focus of pressure since the law was signed into law by President Bolsonaro earlier this month.
Almost 60% also expect to cancel investments, according to the survey, carried out by CMB (Confederation of Santas Casas de Misericórdia, Hospitals and Philanthropic Entities), CNSaúde (National Confederation of Health), FBH (Brazilian Federation of Hospitals), Anahp (National Association of Private Hospitals) and Abramed (Brazilian Association of Diagnostic Medicine).
Payroll, which is already the biggest expense of hospitals, can be burdened by 60%, according to the size of the institution, say the interviewees.
The group that participated in the research is formed mainly by hospitals and diagnostic services. Specialized clinics, home care and institutions for the elderly also participated in the survey. About 35% of respondents are non-profit, according to organizers.
