The North American company National Airlines has carried out two non-scheduled flights to Brazil in recent days, both in cargo operations using the iconic Jumbo Jets.
The planes used were of the Boeing 747-400 BCF model (which means they became freighters from conversion), with different liveries, as the company has three color combinations in its fleet of six Jumbos.
One of the paints National uses is the traditional gray (or silver) and blue for which it is best known. But the first flight was made with a white and blue 747. And now, the second one, which arrived in Brazil on the night of Monday, August 29, was the Jumbo, which has a very unique painting and history.
The following video, recorded by the live camera of the “Golf Oscar Romeo” channel on YouTube, shows the Boeing 747 landing on runway 15 of Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (SP), around 9:15 pm on Monday.
Check out the landing video below.
The Jumbo operation to Brazil
The operation’s schedule was included in the flight record of Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency), and an Aeroin survey with sources close to the operation indicated that the cargo was composed of pesticides purchased from Indian companies.
In fact, flight histories of this Boeing 747 and the previous one indicate that they departed Mumbai, India.
Transporting this type of chemical by air is safe and there is a protocol to be followed. On the other hand, it is also curious, as these chemicals usually travel by ship and in much larger quantities.
The Story of National’s Only Red and Gold Jumbo
The Jumbo Jet, today registered under the registration number N936CA, which became well known around the world for acting as a huge firefighter plane for aerial combat against forest fires, went on sale around April 2021. In September, it had already defined its new home.
Leaving its “job” as a firefighter, the 747-400 was acquired by National Airlines and modified to become a BCF freighter, amid high demand for cargo transport in the global air crisis generated by the pandemic.
However, instead of painting it completely in the company’s well-known blue and silver or blue and white colors, it chose to just adapt the red paintwork that the plane already had, adding a little gold, in a special action for the celebration. of 30 years of National Airlines.
Since receiving its special paint job, the National Jumbo has come to Brazil before. However, given that the company does not have regular flights to the country, the opportunity to see him here is quite unusual.
