Banco do Brasil renegotiates Fies debt starting this Thursday (1st)

by

Banco do Brasil begins this Thursday (1st) to renegotiate student financing debts from Fies (Fundo de Financiamento ao Estudante do Ensino Superior).

To settle the debts, you must have contracted Fies until the second half of 2017, have installments overdue for more than 90 days on December 30, 2021 and not have joined the previous renegotiation.

Those who are up to date with their monthly payments will also be able to participate in the negotiation to settle the outstanding balance, in a single installment, with a 12% discount on the remaining amount of the contract.

The contracting of discounts and installments is done through the BB App in the Debt Solution menu, option Renegotiation Fies and, then, Renegotiate installments. If necessary, it is possible to go to one of the network agencies.

The deadline ends on December 31 of this year.

The bank offers debt settlement or installment options. For contracts over 90 days in arrears, a discount of 100% of late charges and 12% of the principal amount will be granted if payment is made in cash.

There is also the option of payment in up to 150 monthly installments, with a 100% discount for late fees, according to Banco do Brasil.

For students in arrears for less than five years and linked to the Single Registry, or who have been beneficiaries of the 2021 Emergency Aid, it is possible to request discounts of 92% of the outstanding debt amount, upon full settlement of the outstanding balance.

In this case, it is also possible to pay off the outstanding balance in up to 15 successive monthly installments, adjusted by the Selic rate.

Anyone who has been in arrears for more than five years, who has joined the Single Registry and/or who has been a beneficiary of the 2021 Emergency Aid, has a 99% discount on the total debt balance, upon full settlement of the outstanding balance. Another option, according to Banco do Brasil, is to settle the outstanding balance in up to 15 successive monthly installments, adjusted by the Selic rate.

For other cases, the authorized discount is 77% of the total debt balance, including the principal, upon full settlement of the outstanding balance, with the possibility of paying off the debt in up to 15 consecutive monthly installments, adjusted by the Selic rate.
