A survey with 33 countries that have already released data for GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in the second quarter of 2022 shows that the average growth of these economies was 0.5%, according to data made available by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) .

There are 24 countries with growth, 2 with stability and 7 with retraction, compared to the previous quarter. Brazil’s GDP grew 1.2% in the second quarter compared to the previous one, according to information released this Thursday (1st) by the IBGE.

Netherlands, Romania, Croatia, Saudi Arabia and Israel are among the fastest growing in the last quarter. Portugal, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and China are at the bottom of this ranking.

China’s GDP slowed sharply in the quarter. Industrial activity and consumer spending have been affected by widespread lockdowns to contain record Covid-19 cases. In the first half of the year, GDP grew by 2.5%, far below the government’s target of 5.5% for this year.

The European continent is at both ends of the ranking. Growth in the euro zone was 0.7%. Economists had expected a slowdown after growth of 0.5% in January-March, but activity remained strong, thanks to sectors such as tourism.

The projections of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) point to a growth of the global economy of 3.2% this year, being 1.7% for Brazil, 2.3% for the USA, 2.6% for the euro zone and 3.3% for China. At war, Russia must shrink 6%.
