Petrobras cuts gasoline price by 7% from Friday

by

Petrobras announced this Thursday (1st) a 7% reduction in the prices of gasoline sold to distributors, starting on Friday (2nd). It is the fourth consecutive cut since mid-July.

Fuel will go from R$3.53 to R$3.28 per liter, a reduction of R$0.25.

The reduction follows three others announced by the oil company since mid-July, when a cycle of low fuel prices began, as a result of lower global oil prices. Now the state-owned fuel is at the lowest level since March.

The day before, President Jair Bolsonaro had said in an interview that the state-owned company should have “good news” about fuel prices later this week.

In a statement, Petrobras stated that the cut follows the evolution of reference prices and is consistent with its pricing practice, which seeks to balance prices but without the immediate transfer of volatilities in international quotations and the exchange rate.
