Protest against American Airlines has huge queue of pilots in the US; watch video

by

This Thursday (1st), airline pilots held a protest in front of American Airlines headquarters in Fort Worth, near Dallas International Airport (USA).

A video recorded at the site on Thursday morning shows a huge line of workers on the sidewalk, who held up signs with messages of dissatisfaction and criticism of the airline.

Also on Thursday, Alpa (Air Line Pilots Association) hosted similar events in 13 other cities across the country.

Among the messages on pilot boards were criticisms such as “It’s time to fix American Airlines; listen to your pilots,” “Frustrated with American Airlines? So are we!”, and “Our passengers deserve better.”

According to the APA, pilots are urging airlines to eliminate work schedule bottlenecks that cause chaos for passengers and pilots. The association cites the weekend of the Labor Day holiday in the United States, which will fall next Monday (5), as a period of intense movement that requires adjustments in the scale of workers.

“The administration’s record of serving crisis after crisis has impacted us to the point where reports of fatigue have skyrocketed,” said APA President Ed Sicher. “Safety margins are clearly being compromised.”

The association says it has proposed scale-up scheduling reforms that would support the safety margin and respect the needs of pilots and passengers. The adjustments would also help address American Airlines’ staffing shortfall, making the airline more attractive to newly hired pilots.

In addition to the formation of the picket, the APA promoted advertisements in local newspapers, billboards on highways and a digital advertising campaign aimed at passengers and investors.
