The minimum wage is the lowest amount that a given professional category can receive for their working hours. The values ​​may vary according to the category of worker, the number of hours worked and the region.

As this is a benefit, the minimum wage will always be higher than the national (or state, if any) minimum wage. If the floor of the category is lower than the minimum in the state, the state minimum wage is valid because it is more beneficial to the worker.

The salary floor can be agreed by the unions of the categories (in collective agreements), with regional validity, or fixed by law, which can be of municipal, state or national scope.

The floor is not synonymous with salary because not all professional categories have a floor fixed by law or collective agreement. To establish the floor, free negotiation is valid, always considering that the value must exceed the minimum wage.

State network teacher – BRL 5,000

In the state of São Paulo, the minimum salary for public school teachers is R$5,000. The new value was defined in 2022, after a proposal presented by the state government was approved by the Legislative Assembly. The starting salary applies to temporary employees and newcomers. For those who were already on the network, the new career is optional, and servers have up to two years to join.

Civil engineer – from BRL 7.2 thousand to BRL 10.9 thousand

With the increase in the minimum wage to R$ 1,212 in 2022, the minimum wage for civil engineers in the state of São Paulo had readjustments that varied according to the working day.

The minimum wage for domestic workers in the state of São Paulo is R$1,284. The current value went into effect in April 2022 and is the same as the regional minimum wage in force in the state.

According to Seesp (Nurses Union of the State of São Paulo), the values ​​were defined in collective bargaining agreements. While the salary of R$2,940 corresponds to a nursing professional who works in the interior of the state, the remuneration of R$3,921 corresponds to the amount paid to a professional who works in the capital.

Valet parking – BRL 1,751

Collective labor agreement of Sindepark (Union of Garages and Parking Companies of the State of São Paulo) defined as a minimum wage for valet parking attendants the amount of R$ 1,750 referring to an eight-hour working day.

For valets hired to work six hours a day, the minimum wage is R$1,432.
