Bank branches across the country will be closed this Wednesday, September 7th, when the 200th anniversary of Independence is celebrated. Banking service will return to normal on Thursday (8) in all places that do not have municipal holidays on this day, according to information from Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks).
The closing of branches follows the 2020 resolution of the CMN (National Monetary Council), which does not consider holidays as business days for service. ATMs, however, will be available throughout the day, as well as remote service, by computer or cell phone.
How will the bills be paid on the holiday?
Consumption bills such as water, electricity and telephone, among others, can be paid the next business day, without any additional charge. The same rule applies to payment books.
The tip, however, is to check the expiration date on the ticket. According to Walter Tadeu de Faria, deputy director of services at Febraban, in general, documents usually come with dates adjusted according to the calendar of national holidays.
In the case of paying taxes, in general, the taxpayer needs to advance the discharge, according to the salary schedule. For other securities, if the maturity date falls when there is no banking hours, the guideline is to try to anticipate the payment or to settle the debt by remote means, such as cell phone, computer, telephone or ATM.
Bank slips that have already been registered in automatic debit will be paid normally, as happens every month.
The bill payment rules apply to any title, including home ownership, rent, condominium and cable TV, for example.
INSS payments will stop on September 7
The INSS (National Social Security Institute) benefits payment schedule will be interrupted this September 7th. Deposits return to normal on Thursday (8), when benefits for the month of August will be paid to policyholders who receive a minimum wage (R$ 1,212) and have a final card number of zero.
Retirees and pensioners who receive amounts greater than the minimum up to the social security ceiling of R$ 7,087.22 this year and have a benefit number with endings five and zero, discarding the check digit, will also receive on the 8th.
