Data from the Ministry of Economy point to a wave of reduction in the number of business openings and an advance in closing cases this year.
Between May and August, more than 600 thousand companies were closed in the country. The movement has been happening since 2020 and has not cooled down with the improvement in the pandemic scenario.
The volume of closed companies is about 10% higher than that recorded in the previous four-month period and almost 25% higher than the level of the same period last year.
The number of openings was around 1.4 million, which represents a growth of 2% compared to the previous period, however, a drop of 3% compared to the same four-month period in 2021.
