The Minister of Tourism announced that next year the city will host the biggest event for marine tourism

Very satisfied from this year’s course of the cruise in Thessaloniki, the Minister of Tourism appeared, Vassilis Kikilias, after the meeting he had with the management of the Thessaloniki Port Authority, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of the Interior, responsible for Macedonia-Thrace issues, Stavros Kalafatis.

As Mr. Kikilias said, giving his congratulations to the president of OLTH, “this year the cruise in Thessaloniki is ten times more than in 2019. This fills us with satisfaction and it is a great success. I would like to remind you that, last year just before TIF, I stated that our strategic pursuit is to support the port of Thessaloniki, the city, the Region of Central Macedonia, health care stores, the commercial and agricultural world, all those who provide tourist services which is 25% of the country’s GDP”.

The minister added that “the port of Thessaloniki must be active and full of life and not abandoned and left to its fate. I strongly believe in the development of Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia and all of Northern Greece. The driving force is the port and the results speak for themselves.”

Mr. Kikilias added, however, that “we are not resting” stressing that the “numbers for 2023 will be even stronger”. He also announced that next year the city will host the largest event for marine tourism and especially for cruises, the “Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum”.

“I am glad that it will be hosted in Thessaloniki. It is the cruise professionals who show trust and reward the unique tourist experiences offered by the city of Thessaloniki”, he said characteristically.

On April 25 – 26, 2023 in Thessaloniki the international cruise exhibition

The international cruise exhibition will take place in Thessaloniki on April 26-26, 2023, as said by the Theodoros VokosCEO of Posidonian SA.

“The aim is to bring the most important cruise representatives to Thessaloniki to get to know it” he said and added that the city can be “a source of passengers from the Balkans for the cruise companies. It is very easy for someone from the Balkans and Romania to start with his car, come to Thessaloniki, leave his car and get on a boat.”

The international exhibition, as Mr. Vokos said, will be attended by approximately 500 people from all over the world, cruise executives from America but also from all over Europe.
