Georgiadis to SKAI for extraordinary tax on refineries: There will be intervention in fuel as well

by

“The prime minister announced to the TIF measures amounting to 5.5 billion euros that are not loans, they are from the overperformance of the economy and are going back to the citizens,” the Minister of Development emphasized.

The Prime Minister in his speech at TIF had announced that a plan to reduce the price at the pump is imminent, the Minister of Development and Investment pointed out Adonis Georgiades commenting on the EU document revealed by Giorgos Autias on the imposition of an extraordinary levy at least 33% on the excess profits of the oil, gas, coal and refinery industries.

“Just as we handled the surge in electricity by putting a windfall tax on the profits of the generating companies, having so far collected about 2 billion at the source which they have returned to consumers as a subsidy on the bills, in exactly the same way there will also be an intervention in fuel which will be announced by the competent minister”, he emphasized. “This government will not leave the Greek citizens alone in this crisis,” he assured. “The government has taken its measures for the winter, which will be one of the most difficult,” he underlined.

Greece, he noted, has made the biggest intervention in all European countries. Ursula von der Leyen basically copied Mitsotakis proposals.

“The Prime Minister announced to the TIF measures amounting to 5.5 billion euros which are not loans, they are from the overperformance of the economy and are returned to the citizens,” the Minister of Development emphasized.

As far as the natural gas subsidy is concerned, he stated that it will be brave, as brave are all the measures we have taken so far. But the increase in natural gas will be so great that even with the subsidy, natural gas will be expensive, he explained, asking citizens to find heating alternatives.
