Panel SA: Filmmaker criticizes Budweiser sponsorship of Neymar after player supports Bolsonaro

by

Fernando Grostein Andrade questioned Ambev on social media for maintaining Budweiser’s sponsorship of Neymar after the player declared support for Bolsonaro in the election.

Andrade, who is a filmmaker and recently released the documentary “Breaking Myths”, about the president, posted a message on the internet this Wednesday (5) asking for the brand’s consistency in relation to social responsibility.

“Bolsonaro has a series of homophobic speeches and actions and others against the preservation of the Amazon. Bolsonaro has evidence of a connection with the militia. With those who exploit the faith of others to make money,” he wrote.

The filmmaker claims that he has already been hired by Ambev to make videos about the company’s social work, which also manufactures other beers, such as Skol and Brahma.

“What’s the point of appearance without essence? How about consistency? How many votes did Neymar not get Bolsonaro? Where is the responsibility, especially of a company that profits from alcohol, which in many cases can be linked to violence and alcoholism? What’s the point of giving scholarship to young people with one hand and indirectly contribute to those who present weapons as a solution to violence in the periphery”, Andrade wrote.

Sought by the SA Panel, Ambev says it supports democracy and has partners with different views. “In our ecosystem, we have several partners with different visions and we respect the multiple points of view. Above all, we support democracy. Dialogue, freedom and plurality are values in which we believe and foster”, said the company in note.

This Sunday (2), when leaving to vote, Grostein Andrade, who is abroad, said he received a death threat from a person wearing a T-shirt with the pun “Cuscuz Clã”, in reference to the North American racist movement KKK.
