SA Panel: Pro-Tebet manifesto signers tend not to declare joint support in 2nd round

by

Businessmen and economists who, in June, signed a manifesto in defense of the candidacy of Simone Tebet (MDB) do not tend to publicly announce their votes in the second round, even after the senator, who was third in the dispute, declared her support for Lula this Wednesday ( 5).

According to a businessman who worked in the pro-Tebet movement, engaging in the third way was a learning experience and helped to mark his presence for 2026. Now, however, everyone will follow their conscience, he says.

Among those who signed the June manifesto, Arminio Fraga declared his support for Lula on Tuesday (4), but public demonstrations should be an exception among the 300 signatories.

The list has well-known names in the private sector, such as Candido Bracher, Eduardo Mufarej, Walter Schalka, Pedro Wongtschowski, Luis Stuhlberger, Sônia Hess and Vicente Falconi.

The statement by Tebet, who had lunch with Lula this Wednesday and said he did not recognize Bolsonaro’s commitment to democracy, was praised among signatories of the manifesto.

Former BNDES president Maria Silvia Bastos Marques said that she considered Tebet’s positioning and speech consistent with her history and with what she defended in the campaign.

“I understand your option for non-neutrality, in defense of democracy, the basic pillar of our society. But support with conditions, without leaving aside the priority points of your project for the country, reiterating that you hope that these themes and ideas are accepted by the candidate for whom he declared his vote. I was proud of my candidate for president”, said Bastos Marques.

Businessman Horácio Lafer Piva also says he liked the senator’s speech. “Sober, honest in purpose and consistent with what he preached in the campaign and what he sees as values. He does not flirt with his political future, but with politics as a medium. He created an important space for the coming months. She is talented,” she said. Lafer Piva.
