Amazon announced on Thursday that it will hire 150,000 full-time, temporary and part-time employees across its US operations to prepare for the holiday shopping season.
The world’s biggest online retailer, which hired the same number of workers in September last year, said the new roles are for packaging, sorting, sorting and shipping orders, and workers will be eligible for a bonus of up to $3. thousand in some places.
Amazon raised the average hourly wage to more than $19 last week, compared to the $18 it offered last year.
The salary increase could help the company attract and retain workers in an increasingly tight US job market.
