Credit from the Paulista Invoice can be used to pay part of the IPVA 2023

Consumers registered in the Nota Fiscal Paulista can use the program’s credits to deduct the total or partial value of the IPVA (Tax on the Property of Motor Vehicles) for 2023. October.

October is the only month of the year when consumers can take advantage of the credits to deduct the following year’s tax. It is necessary to access the Nota Fiscal Paulista website. You can choose to pay the full or partial amount.


How to use credits to deduct the IPVA 2023

  • Go to the Nota Fiscal Paulista website, enter your CPF and registered password
  • Click on “I’m not a robot” and click on “Access”
  • A screen will appear with information about the option to use credits for IPVA abatement. Go to “Continue”
  • In the red bar, access the “Current Account” menu and then click on “Use Credits”
  • Select the option “Discharge or abatement in the IPVA value”
  • Enter the Renavam number and click on the word “verify”
  • If the numbering is correct, the system will enable the “Confirm” button and the field for the vehicle owner to inform the value he will use (on the side, how much credit you currently have)
  • After clicking on “Confirm”, the system will show a form with the name of the owner and all the details of the car (plate, Renavan, make/model, year of manufacture, fuel), in addition to the amount of credit used
  • Click “Confirm” or “Correct Data”

In October 2021, 89,174 consumers requested the reduction of this year’s IPVA, totaling about BRL 5.4 million. In 2020 there were 20,846 fans.

In order to use the IPVA credits, the vehicle must be in the name of the user registered in the Nota Fiscal Paulista. It is also necessary to inform the Renavam number.

According to Sefaz (Secretariat of Finance and Planning) of São Paulo, the credits can only be used to reduce the value of the IPVA, not the licensing fees and fines, if any.

Excess amounts will be refunded

If the consumer sends more than is necessary for the discharge, the money will be refunded to the Nota Fiscal Paulista account. Until last year the excess amount was not returned.

In case of sale of the vehicle, the value will not be refunded.

R$ 13.5 million in credits mature in October

The credits from the Nota Fiscal Paulista are released monthly and remain available to consumers for one year, counting from the release.

This month the values ​​released in October of last year expire.

About BRL 13.5 million in credits expire in October 2022, belonging to 11.5 million users, according to the Secretary of Finance. There are several expiration dates during the month, but the largest volume expires on October 18th, so consumers have until the 17th to make the transfer.

Unredeemed amounts return to the State Treasury and the resources are used in different sectors of society.
