Amid the negotiations in Congress and Bolsonaro’s statements about the funding sources for the new nursing floor, representatives of the category say that concrete attitudes are lacking.
“The approval of Congress has shaken up the category a little because it saw a light at the end of the tunnel to start receiving the floor, but they are very skeptical of promises”, says Solange Caetano, training secretary at the FNE (National Federation of Nurses).
The Chamber approved, this week, a project that provides up to R$ 2 billion to clean up the finances of Santas Casas and philanthropic hospitals and that can open space for states and municipalities to pay for the nursing floor.
On Thursday (13), Bolsonaro (PL) said that the federal government intends to exempt the health payroll, to offset the cost of paying the minimum wage for nursing.
The proposal was seen as insufficient by entities in the sector. According to CNSaúde (which brings together companies in the sector), the measure is not enough to serve philanthropic institutions and to correct the discrepancy in the impact on poorer states.
The nursing salary floor was approved by Congress and sanctioned by President Bolsonaro in early August. The rule was suspended in the STF while the funding sources are discussed.
