The IDV (Institute for Retail Development) sales projection for the coming months, which will be released this Thursday (20), points to a 1.1% drop in October in the calculations that discount the IPCA.
In November, the projection is for a decrease of 0.5%, and in December, of 3.2%, in relation to the same months of the previous year.
According to the IDV, the month of September also brought a drop of 1.7% in the annual comparison, in real terms.
In terms of the preceding sales index by sectors, non-cyclical purchase products, such as furniture and appliances, show a 2% drop, and construction material, a 6% drop.
The cyclical purchase markets, on the other hand, show a positive variation, such as pharmaceuticals and beauty products (21%), clothing (10%), food (7%) and other articles (22%), according to the figures from the IDV, which brings together networks such as Arezzo , Bob’s and Carrefour.
Jorge Gonçalves Filho, president of the IDV, states that some factors may influence retail in the coming months, such as “political instability due to the 2nd round of the presidential election, the reduction of taxes in several categories of products and the combination of the World Cup with traditional seasonal dates like Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday”.
