Caixa suspends Auxílio Brasil payroll loan until Monday

Caixa Econômica Federal suspended payroll-deductible loan concessions for beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil on all bank channels from 6pm this Friday (21) until 7am on Monday (24). The bank said its system and that of technology company Dataprev will undergo scheduled maintenance.

The decision to block operations was announced after an explosion of access to Caixa’s service channels. With the overload, the beginning of the release of credit to the low-income population was marked by complaints of canceled loans, difficulty and delay in releasing the money, collection of unexpected fees and tied sales.

According to Caixa, between October 11 and 20, the Caixa Tem app received 206 million hits. In the same period in September, there were 25 million.

“In numerical volume, it is as if almost the entire population of Brazil had interacted with the bank in just ten days. Even so, approximately 80% of all requests made have already been completed”, said the bank, in a note.

The release of payroll loans was authorized less than three weeks before the second round of the elections and is used as a trump card in the reelection campaign of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who ended the first round behind Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) .

In the first week of the operation alone, more than 2,000 complaints were recorded in a survey carried out by Idec (Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection) based on reports on social networks, YouTube and official channels. The institute claims there are reports of harassment from financial institutions and the practice of tying.

Those who had canceled credit will be able to reorder, says Caixa

With the explosive increase in demand for credit, part of the customers did not have their loan application processed, which caused automatic cancellation. According to Caixa, these customers will be able to re-order through the app.

“Yesterday [quinta]we send a series of communications directly through the application to the customer so that, in some cases, he can redo his order through Caixa Tem, in others, to regularize his situation in a lottery or in a Caixa branch”, informed the bank. .

On the morning of this Friday (21), the vice president of Caixa’s Retail Network Júlio César Volpp Sierra said, during an event for the breast cancer prevention campaign, that the bank is making technological implementations to support the system and be able to serve customers.

“We are processing the credits and seeking normalization to be able to make the credit for all people”, he said.
