Georgiadis: The growth rate will be positive in 2023 as well

“2022 is finally a good year for the Greek economy, despite the pandemic and despite the war”, he concluded.

Greece will be one of the countries that will manage to maintain positive rates in 2023 as well.

We believe that with concerted effort and seriousness we will exceed approximately 2% in growth in 2023 as well, despite the war, stressed the Minister of Development & Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, who represented the Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the Development & Competitiveness Awards – Growth Awards 2022 by Eurobank and Grant Thornton.

“The uncertainty which is hitting Europe particularly hard is unlikely not to affect our own economy in 2023. It would be oxymoronic and contradictory to believe that our customers can be in crisis and we are having a good time. It is certain that 2023 will be a year we firmly believe will not be a recession for Greece. However, these positive rates will not be compared to this year’s, they will not be at this year’s heights. They will be much lower,” he said.

Mr. Georgiadis commented on the Economist’s research on the business environment, according to which “Greece was declared the first in the world in improving the business environment since 2019, that is, since the beginning of the Mitsotakis government’s term, up to today, rising a total of 16 places in the relevant table of the world ranking”.

“For this success, the value of which you who are present here today understand better than anyone else in the country and in your own jobs and in your own investment initiatives, I feel very proud since, at the behest of the prime minister, I had everything these years the presidency of the coordination of the government for the improvement of the business climate in the country and the implementation of the reforms mainly recommended by the World Bank for this”, said Mr. Georgiadis.

The minister also pointed out that this year Greece achieved a triple record of investments, tourist receipts and exports.

“2022 is finally a good year for the Greek economy, despite the pandemic and despite the war”, he concluded.
