PRF says it will send license plates and names of truck owners for Moraes’ inquiry

The director general of the Federal Highway Police, Silvinei Vasques, determined that the regional superintendencies of the corporation inform plates and names of the owners of the trucks involved in the protests that broke out after the defeat of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) at the polls.

The data will be sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, for inclusion in inquiry No. 4,879, which is being processed under secrecy at the court.

Established in 2021 and known as the inquiry into the undemocratic acts of 7 de Setembro, the procedure targeted Bolsonaro supporters such as elected deputy Zé Trovão, singer Sérgio Reis.

The information must be sent to the PRF headquarters, according to the letter signed by Vasques in the early morning of this Tuesday (1st), “unremittingly, until 18:00 on 11/01/2022”.

The reports must contain “identification of all vehicles involved in the blockades of federal highways of your district (plate and owner), especially trucks, occurred from 10/30/2022”. They must be prepared based on information obtained by road agents at the place of blockages and interdictions and/or analysis of open sources.

This Tuesday, the director general of the corporation sent a letter to the Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, to ask for the help of the National Force in the actions to demobilize the protests.

Vasques stated that “the PRF has been working around the clock for free transit on federal highways and roads, ensuring the safety and integrity of users”.

He stressed that the activation of all the body’s available personnel and the support of the MPs were not enough to clear the more than 400 blockage points.

“Thus, in compliance with judicial determinations, the support of the National Force is necessary to join efforts in search of the public interest, whose operations planning will take place in a joint working meeting between the public security forces”, he said.

A request in the same terms was sent by the PRF to the director general of the Federal Police, Márcio Nunes de Oliveira. Oliveira determined that all the regional units of the PF must make contact with the respective units of the PRF and provide effective support for the liberation of the highways, as well as carry out intelligence actions with the objective of achieving the results.

This Tuesday, deputy attorneys in charge of the external control of police activity asked for the opening of an investigation in the Federal Police to investigate the performance of the director general of the PRF. The investigation should focus on Vasques’ performance in the elections and on the repression of road blocks promoted by Bolsonaro supporters after the election result.

In disobedience to an order from the TSE, the PRF carried out hundreds of operations aimed at public transport of voters across the country, but mainly in the Northeast, a region where President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has broad electoral support.

According to representatives of the Federal Public Ministry, “the widely publicized conduct attributed to the director-general of the PRF indicates misconduct in the management of the institution, a misuse of purpose aimed at interfering in the electoral process.
