Vehicle sales fall in September-October comparison

by

The sale of light and heavy vehicles ended October with a drop of 6.7% compared to September. 180,900 units were licensed in the last month, according to data based on Renavam (National Registry of Motor Vehicles).

In relation to October 2021, there was an increase of 11.4%, a number that confirms the recovery of the sector in this second semester. However, it will not be easy to achieve growth this year, despite Anfavea’s (association of automakers) forecasts.

The entity has maintained the projection made in July and believes that it will be possible to advance 1% in sales compared to last year.

So far, the 1.68 million vehicles registered for the year represent a drop of 3.2% compared to the same period in 2021.

Anfavea maintains the hope that, after the electoral period, the months of November and December will register significant results and guarantee growth. But there is the World Cup in the middle of the road, in addition to the difficulties generated by expensive credit.

According to Bright consultancy, specialized in the automotive sector, Minas Gerais continues to stand out in the national market. In October, the state accounted for 27% of the commercialization of light vehicles in the country.

The explanation, according to the consultancy, lies in the fast pace of direct sales. The rental company Localiza, for example, is headquartered in Belo Horizonte.

The best-selling car of the last month was the Hyundai HB20 compact hatch. The model, which is produced in Piracicaba (interior of São Paulo), had 9,066 units licensed in October, according to a calculation released by the consultancy Jato Dynamics. Then come Chevrolet Tracker (8,496) and Fiat Strada (8,046).

Production data will be released by Anfavea on Tuesday (8), during the 2022 edition of Fenatran. The main national fair in the transport sector will show the trucks and buses that are starting to hit the market.

The new range of products debuts already adapted to the Euro 6 standard for controlling pollutants and carbon dioxide, adopted in Europe in 2016. The standard is equivalent to the eighth phase of Proconve (Program for Control of Air Pollution by Motor Vehicles).
