A statement regarding the guidelines presented by the European Commission for the reform of the economic governance framework of the European Union was made by the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras.
As he stated:
“Yesterday, the European Commission presented its proposal for the reform of the economic governance framework of the European Union.
A proposal which recognizes the need for significant changes in the current framework and contributes to the relevant discussions taking place on a constructive basis.
All those involved – member states and institutions of the European Union – recognize the need for common, realistic rules, which ensure the sustainability of public debt and, at the same time, foster sustainable, inclusive economic growth in Europe, through the implementation investments and reforms.
Greece participates – and will continue to participate – in these discussions actively and creatively, with responsible and thorough proposals and with the aim that the new economic architecture of the European Union will ensure that the medium-long-term stability and sustainability of public finances will be combined with the achievement sustainable growth rates”.
