The big plan of projects worth 13 billion euros, of which almost 25% has already been contracted, said the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. George Karagiannis, in his speech at the conference of the Greek-French Commercial and Industrial sustainable infrastructure and transport.
Mr. Karagiannis stressed that the projects that have been launched, serve the national planning and solve serious problems of the local communities, while they make the daily life of the citizens better.
He stressed that these projects create new jobs, while giving a significant impetus to growth, due to their large multiplier.
“Every euro that is invested, generates other euros that are invested in turn. “So we have a diffusion of investment and, ultimately, growth of the economy”, he stated characteristically.
He made special reference to the importance of “our country coming out of the economic strait with our businesses alive, stronger and more extroverted, so that employment can increase and we can attract our young people who have gone abroad again.”
Describing the goal of the Ministry of Infrastructure, he stressed that it is “important now to build the foundations with a view to the future. It is time to build for the next generations. Ports and railway projects worth 4 billion

Also, as public works, as he underlined, the connection of Kymi Avenue with PATHE, Bralos – Amfissa and the eastern part of VOAK, Neapoli – Agios Nikolaos, with a total budget of 1 billion, will be auctioned in the next period.
“Greece is becoming an infrastructure hub of the wider region through the implementation of a comprehensive plan of projects totaling 13 billion,” said the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, noting the fact that 25% of them have already been contracted.
The first Road Works through PPPs
At the same time, as he said, by the end of the year we are expected to have binding offers for all three new PPP road projects, Flyover of Thessaloniki, Kalamata – Rizomylos – Pylos – Methoni and Hersonissos – Neapoli of BOAK.
“These are projects of great added value that substantially upgrade the infrastructure in the areas where we intervene”, noted Mr. Karagiannis.
