PGR articulates with the government the use of the National Force against interdictions on roads

The Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, said this Monday (21) that he articulates with the Ministry of Justice and Public Security the use of the National Force to assist in the demobilization of road bans promoted by supporters of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) .

Aras said that he will get in touch with the government of Mato Grosso so that the state executive can request the federal government to help the corporation, as provided for in the legislation that governs it.

According to the Federal Public Ministry, Mato Grosso is, this beginning of the week, the state that requires more attention. At least 11 interdictions were registered on federal highways, four of them with total interruption of the flow. There were episodes of violence.

The assessment of the MPF representatives is that the staff of the other police forces (Federal, Federal Highway and Military) is not enough to deal with the situation in the state.

“The minister [da Justiça, Anderson Torres] assured us that, once again, he will urge the state governor to request support from the National Force, which is available to help clear the highways,” said Aras, in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

This Monday morning, the head of the Attorney General’s Office met the permanent crisis committee to assess the situation on federal highways. In addition to sub-prosecutors (members of the PGR), public prosecutors in Mato Grosso, Rondônia, Pará and Paraná participated in the meeting.

In Rondônia, there are eight blockage points. Regarding the state, the information presented at the meeting was that there are still some isolated points of protest.

“I’ve been in contact with the minister [da Justiça]he informed us that he is going to immediately reinforce the contingent in Rondônia”, stated Aras.

According to the Federal Highway Police, 1,236 interdictions have been undone since the end of the electoral dispute, when demonstrators began to protest against the result of the polls, which gave victory to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Bolsonarist groups are camped in front of barracks in the country.

The anti-democratic acts have gained strength again in recent days in the face of an expectation that the PL, the president’s party, will present some challenge to the electronic ballot boxes with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court).

The PRF entered the sights of the president of the TSE, Alexandre de Moraes, after disobeying the minister’s decision, still on Sunday (30) of the second round, and carrying out blitzes against passenger transport vehicles.

The following day, the corporation again clashed with the minister for not putting an end to the manifestations of blockades on the highways.

Moraes, then, ordered the government to immediately adopt “all necessary and sufficient measures” to clear the highways occupied by Bolsonarists and registered the possibility of arrest in flagrante delicto of the general director of the PRF, Silvinei Vasques, in case of new non-compliance. According to the minister, at that moment, there was “omission and inertia” by the PRF in clearing the roads.

Vasques became the target of an investigation by the Federal Police, initiated based on a request from sub-prosecutors who work in the external control of police activity.

These same MPF representatives demanded that Aras take concrete actions against the protests. They stated that “this unconstitutional state of affairs cannot be answered by the silence and inaction of public agents”.
