Panel SA: Ford commits to measures for the empowerment of women in Brazil

by

Ford adhered to a set of principles established by the United Nations to promote more inclusive work environments for women, assuming the commitment to take measures with this objective in its units in Brazil and other countries in South America.

With this initiative, the company is committed to the seven Women’s Empowerment Principles, which range from health and safety at work to measures to promote gender equality and the professional development of the company’s employees.

The automaker has set itself the goal of having at least one developing or succession-qualified woman in each leadership position. The company says it is also seeking greater diversity in its internship program, which has hired 150 students this year and another 100 next year.

According to the United Nations, more than 5,000 companies from 141 countries have adhered to commitments to women since the set of principles was adopted by the organization in 2010. In Brazil, 597 companies committed to the goals defined by the UN.
