Telecom Italia will close offices on Fridays in new work policy

by

Telecom Italia will not open offices in Italy on Fridays as part of an agreement with unions to expand work from home and reduce energy costs.

The company, TIM’s parent company in Brazil and one of Italy’s biggest employers, has announced it will increase the number of work-from-home days per week that employees can take advantage of from two to three. The rule will apply to around 75% of the company’s current 42,000 employees in Italy.

The initiative will start in February and will initially last for one year. The agreement does not include employees who work in maintenance of the company’s infrastructure.

Telecom Italia will continue to pay daily meal vouchers on work-from-home days and the agreement does not include any contribution to employees related to the consumption of electricity at home.
