ELSTAT: 12.5% ​​increase in the turnover of retail businesses in the third quarter of 2022

The turnover of the country’s retail businesses increased by 1.85 billion euros or 12.5% ​​in the third quarter of this year and amounted to 16.73 billion euros, compared to 14.88 billion euros in the third quarter of 2021.

At the same time, an increase of 8.6% was recorded compared to the first quarter of 2022 which had amounted to 15.41 billion euros.

The activities that showed the greatest increase in turnover in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021 is:

-Retail trade of used goods in shops (53.3%).

-Retail trade of textile products, clothing and footwear in outdoor stalls and markets (43.7%).

On the contrary, the activity that showed a decrease is:

-Retail trade of medical and orthopedic goods in specialized stores (1.4%).

The regions that showed the biggest increase are:

-South Aegean Region (25.5%).

– Region of the Ionian Islands (25.3%).

Also according to ELSTAT, for retail businesses with an obligation to keep duplicate books and for which data are available on a monthly basis, turnover in September 2022 amounted to 3.32 billion euros, marking an increase of 16.1% compared to September 2021 which had amounted to 2.86 billion euros and an increase of 3% compared to August 2022 which was set at 3.23 billion euros.

The activities that showed the largest increase in turnover in September 2022 compared to September 2021 are:

-Retail trade of electrical household appliances in specialized stores (46.1%).

-Sale of cars and light motor vehicles (31.7%).

The regions that showed the biggest increase are:

-South Aegean Region (32.8%).

-Region of Western Macedonia (25.2%).

On the contrary, the region that showed a decrease is that of Crete (1.3%).

End, for retail businesses, with the exception of vehicles, food and fuelthe turnover in the third quarter of 2022 amounted to 6.15 billion euros, an increase of 8.5% compared to the third quarter of 2021, where it had amounted to 5.67 billion euros and an increase of 11.2 % compared to the first quarter of 2022, which was 5.53 billion euros.

The regions that showed the largest increase in turnover in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021 are:

-South Aegean Region (24.9%).

– Region of the Ionian Islands (21.5%).

While, for retail businesses with the exception of vehicles, food and fuelwith the obligation to keep duplicate books and for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in September 2022 amounted to 0.98 billion euros, marking an increase of 15.3% in relation to September 2021 which was formed at 0, 85 billion euros and an increase of 7.1% in relation to August 2022 which was formed at 0.91 billion euros.

The regions that showed the largest increase in turnover in September 2022 compared to September 2021 are:

– North Aegean Region (48.6%).

-Region of Western Macedonia (45.8%).
