Panel SA: Airbnb will report user profile and trends to Ilhabela City Hall

by

The municipality of Ilhabela, on the coast of São Paulo, made an agreement with Airbnb to receive aggregated data on the profile of the platform’s users and tourism trends in the city, in order to define policies for the development of the sector.

The company is committed to sharing information with authorities over the next two years, such as the number of visitors, reasons for travel and the dates most sought after by users of the application, in addition to innovations developed by the platform.

It was Ilhabela’s Secretariat for Economic Development and Tourism that proposed the partnership to the company. According to the city hall, the municipality has been investing in market intelligence systematically since it created a tourism observatory, in April 2021.

“The partnership established with Airbnb will fill an information gap that is difficult to obtain: the profile of the tourist using the platform and the trends in the local season rental sector,” said the city hall, in a statement.

Sharing information should allow you to know the behavior of travelers using Airbnb in the region, competing destinations and tourism market opportunities. The municipality is also seeking information to promote Ilhabela as a national and international destination.
