The subsidy for 90% of households in December amounts to 221 euros per megawatt hour, as announced today by Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas.
At the same time, the Ministry of Energy released examples of electricity bills before and after the subsidy, for the month of December.
The subsidy on household tariffs in detail
• For consumptions up to 500 kWh, the subsidy will be 221 euros/MWh. It concerns 90% of households in Greece.
• For consumption from 501-1,000 kWh, the subsidy is 171 euros/MWh. However, if a household reduces its average daily consumption by 15% compared to last year, then the subsidy increases by 50 euros/MWh.
• For consumption over 1,001 kWh, the subsidy amounts to 81 euros/MWh.
• For households that are included in the Social Household Tariff (COT) we absorb almost 100% of the increase and the subsidy amounts to 269 euros /MWh. The value of the subsidy for households in December amounts to 282 million euros.
