Panel SA: Petrobras to invest R$ 55 million in preservation of marine species

by

Over the next two years, Petrobras decided to invest R$ 55 million in projects under the Biomar Network, which articulates various initiatives to protect marine animal species that are threatened with extinction.

The projects aim to encourage practices and business models and enterprises that value the marine environment and its biodiversity, encouraging the transition to more sustainable activities.

The Biomar Network includes initiatives that focus on 93 species, including albatrosses, humpback whales, dolphins and groupers, in addition to a project dedicated to the conservation of coral reefs.

Part of the resources will be used to assess the health of the ocean in Biomar’s areas of operation, considering factors such as water quality, capacity to provide food and species diversity.

Rede Biomar develops research, public policies and educational activities in 65 municipalities, in addition to the island of Fernando de Noronha, off the coast of Pernambuco, and Atol das Rocas, in Rio Grande do Norte.
