Auxílio Brasil and Vale Gás start to be paid on December 12; see the calendar

The Auxílio Brasil and Vale Gás in December will be paid in advance, compared to previous months, due to the Christmas celebrations. Deposits start to be made on the 12th and go until the 23rd.

Beneficiaries of Vale Gás did not receive the installment in November because the benefit is bimonthly, but the last installment of the year will be deposited this month, on the same date of payment of the Auxílio Brasil. In October, the benefit paid to more than 5.98 million families was R$ 112, but the Ministry of Citizenship has not yet informed the amount to be paid in December.

In November, Auxílio Brasil broke a record — the payment was made to more than 21.5 million families, almost 10 million of them in the Northeast region. Seeking to improve its popularity for the second round of elections, in October the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) included more than 500 thousand families in the income transfer program.

The government also promised a 13th of Brazil Aid for women in 2023 —which was not foreseen in the Budget for next year— and approved the payroll loan modality for beneficiaries of the social program.

After the elections, Caixa Econômica Federal, the main supplier of this type of credit, limited the number of loans provided, changed the risk analysis and suggested to the next government a review of the interest rate for this credit. In October, Auxílio Brasil’s payroll reached R$ 5 billion.

Auxílio Brasil and Vale Gás December calendar

Since August, the government has paid a benefit of R$600 to Auxílio Brasil families. The complement of R$ 200, however, is only valid until the month of December. The elected government is negotiating with Congress, in the Transition PEC, the release of resources to maintain the aid at R$ 600 from January, one of the campaign promises of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

This month, the aid amount may be lower for those who took out the payroll loan: the discount can reach R$ 240.

The amount can be withdrawn, with the Citizen’s Card, at the Caixa Econômica Federal branch or at lottery outlets. The benefit can also be transferred through the Caixa Tem application.
